Turkey Becomes the European Union's Fifth Largest Trading Partner

According to the international trade data for the second quarter of 2026 announced by the European Statistical Office, Turkey ranked among the top five countries as a result of its economic activities with the European Union.

The European Statistical Office officially shared the international trade statistics of the European Union for the second quarter of 2026 with the public.

According to the announced figures, the Union realized a total of 701.8 billion euros in goods imports from non-member countries during the period in question.

Import and Export Growth Rates

The European Union's exports to foreign countries were recorded at the level of 680 billion euros in the same period.

While imports from outside the Union increased by 11.7 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, the growth rate in exports was determined as 4.5 percent.

Turkey's Import and Export Position

The European Union's imports from Turkey reached the level of 25.5 billion euros in the second quarter of 2026.

Meanwhile, the Union's exports towards Turkey remained at the level of 27.3 billion euros, and these developments carried Turkey to the fifth position.

Total Trade Volume Figures

As a result of mutual goods trade between Turkey and the European Union, the total trade volume reached 52.8 billion euros.

This trade volume clearly revealed the magnitude of the economic relations between the two parties during the second quarter period.
