Turkey's Population Increased by 228 Thousand People in the First Half of 2026

In line with the data announced by the Turkish Statistical Institute, the country's total population registered an increase in the first six-month period of 2026.

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) shared the periodic data regarding the country's current population with the public. Accordingly, Turkey's population increased by 228,434 people in the first half of 2026, reaching 86,320,602 people.

Population Growth in the First Half of the Year

According to the periodic data announced by the Turkish Statistical Institute, the country's population continued its upward trend in the first half of 2026.

Turkey's population, which was 86,092,168 people at the end of last year, showed a total increase of 228,434 people over the six-month period.

Population Growth Accelerated in the Last Two Months

According to the announced official figures, Turkey's population took its place in the records as 86,320,602 people as of July 1, 2026.

While it was observed that the increase in the population gained momentum, an increase of 123,904 people was experienced solely in the two-month period between May 1 and July 1.

Population Distribution by Gender

According to the gender distribution data across Turkey, the male population was calculated as 43,170,975 people, constituting 50.01 percent of the total population.

The female population was recorded as 43,149,627 people, while the share of women within the total population stood at the level of 49.99 percent.
