Vietnam Calls on Qualcomm and Samsung for AI and Chip Investment
The Vietnamese administration has asked the two giant companies to increase their investments in line with the goal of transforming the country into a technology and innovation hub.
Vietnamese leaders have invited US chipmaker Qualcomm and South Korean electronics giant Samsung Electronics to expand their investments in artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and research and development in order to make the country a regional innovation center.

Critical Talks in Hanoi
General Secretary of the Communist Party and President To Lam met with Qualcomm Chief Executive Officer Cristiano Amon in the capital Hanoi.
Qualcomm's Global R&D Targets
To Lam stated that investments in artificial intelligence, semiconductors, robotics, 5G, and next-generation connectivity technologies should be increased.
Qualcomm executive Amon stated that they want to make their presence in Vietnam the company's third-largest artificial intelligence R&D base worldwide.
Strategic Partnership with Samsung
Prime Minister Le Minh Hung praised the company's contribution to technological capacity during his meeting with Samsung Electronics Chief Executive Officer Roh Tae-moon.
It was emphasized that Vietnam is one of the most important global production hubs for Samsung.
Multi-Billion-Dollar Production History
The total exports of Samsung's mobile phone manufacturing entities in Vietnam reached $500 billion as of the end of June over the past 17 years since production began.
It was announced that the company's total investment in the country to date amounts to $24 billion.
Future Period Plans
Roh Tae-moon stated that they plan more investments and training in Vietnam, and that they are also working for domestic firms to participate in the global supply chain.
