Ministry of Health Updates Pre-Hospital Emergency Aid Schemas
With the communique amendment published in the Official Gazette, the schemas determining the intervention methods of personnel working in emergency health services have been reorganized.
The Communique on Amending the Procedures and Principles on the Working Procedures and Principles of Ambulance and Emergency Care Technicians and Emergency Medicine Technicians, prepared by the Ministry of Health, has entered into force after being published in the Official Gazette, completely renewing the pre-hospital emergency medical assistance flowcharts.
Scope of the Renewed Flowcharts
With the new regulation, pre-hospital emergency medical assistance and care flowcharts have been completely renewed and adapted to current needs. These newly prepared guidance schemas consist of a total of three main sections.
Three Main Sections and Subcategories
The renewed flowcharts are gathered under three main headings: adult algorithms, birth and newborn algorithms, and pediatric algorithms. Under these main sections, a total of 78 different subcategories are included.
Special Emergency Situations and New Methods
Intervention methods for special emergency situations are detailed under separate headings in the communique. In addition, the field management heading was updated with a structural change as scene management.
Current Approaches Included in the Guide
The communique included important topics such as approach to the agitated patient, diabetes, allergic reactions, and the BEFAST screening method. In addition, critical concepts such as bites and stings, poisonings, carbon monoxide poisoning, crush syndrome, start triage, and jump start triage were also included in the process.
