Sports Schools Olympics Began in Konya
The 2nd Sports Schools Olympics, organized by Konya Metropolitan Municipality, started with enthusiasm at the Selçuk University Football Field with the participation of more than 1,500 young athletes.
More than fifteen hundred athletes, selected among the students participating in the summer sports schools conducted by the Konya Metropolitan Municipality in 28 districts outside the center, started competing for medals in the district sports schools Olympics held for the second time.
Opening Ceremony of the Olympics
Local protocol, students, and their families showed great interest in the opening ceremony held at the Selçuk University Football Field.

Provincial Director of Youth and Sports Muzaffer Çintimar thanked for the support given to sports, while Deputy Mehmet Baykan emphasized the encompassing services of the municipality.
Selected Among Tens of Thousands of Youths
Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay stated that more than 1,500 athletes selected from among 12,180 students receiving training in sports schools in 28 districts will sweat it out in this organization.
Competition in Eleven Different Branches
Throughout the organization, which will last for three days, competitions will be held in the branches of athletics, badminton, basketball, football, bocce, darts, table tennis, archery, volleyball, and swimming.
Advice to Youth from Mayor Altay
Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay stated in his speech addressing the young athletes that friendship and brotherhood are more valuable than any medal.
Beginning with Visual Shows
The opening ceremony, colored by drum and light shows, was completed with the passing ceremony of the athlete delegations, making the official start of the Olympics.
