New Projects Announced at the Closing of the 2026 Pokémon World Championships
New animated series, game updates, and the host city for 2027 were announced at the championship's closing in San Francisco.
During the closing ceremony of the 2026 Pokémon World Championships and PokémonXP held in San Francisco, upcoming projects and game innovations were announced to participants under the leadership of Tsunekazu Ishihara, President and CEO of The Pokémon Company.

Events held throughout the weekend in San Francisco, California, brought together fans from all over the world. The first details of important projects were shared during panels conducted by company management.
New Animation Productions
Prepared in collaboration with Aardman studio, the series Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu will meet audiences on Disney+ starting in October 2026. Additionally, a new feature-length animated film, Pokémon: Wild Card, was announced.
Innovations in Trading Card Games
In the Pokémon TCG Pocket series, dual-type Pokémon cards will be added to collections starting in October 2026. Furthermore, it was announced that Mega Evolution cards, such as Mega Lucario Z ex, will come to the Pokémon TCG.
Game Updates and New Characters
Morpeko, Toxtricity, Jolteon, and Flareon will join the Pokémon UNITE roster as playable characters. On the Pokémon GO side, Mega-Evolved Pokémon will be included in GO Battle League battles with new features.
Next Year's Destination Singapore
With the final announcement made during the closing ceremony, the location for the 2027 Pokémon World Championships became clear. The major event will take place at the Singapore EXPO center from August 13 to 15, 2027.
