Ukrainian drone attacks target depot and refinery in Russia

As a result of long-range drone attacks launched by Ukraine, a large Wildberries logistics center in Russia's Tambov region burned down completely, while a Lukoil refinery in Nizhny Novgorod was also targeted.

Wildberries Warehouse Burns Down Completely

According to local officials, a warehouse belonging to Wildberries, Russia's largest online retailer, located in the Tambov region southeast of Moscow, burned down completely as a result of a drone attack. It was reported that two people were injured in the fire at the logistics center, which had previously been targeted on July 18.

While the Ukrainian side claims that the goods sold by the company also include equipment and technical components used by the Russian military, the company denies these allegations.

Refinery in Nizhny Novgorod Targeted

The General Staff of Ukraine reported that a Lukoil refinery located in the city of Kstovo in Russia's Nizhny Novgorod region was attacked overnight, causing a fire at the facility. Nizhny Novgorod Governor Gleb Nikitin also confirmed that an unnamed industrial facility in the region was damaged.

Critical Infrastructure Decree from Putin

Following the successive attacks, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree stating that if private owners fail to protect critical infrastructure facilities against Ukrainian drone attacks or rebuild them after a strike, the state may temporarily take control of these facilities.

Meanwhile, the Russian Ministry of Defence announced that a total of 426 Ukrainian drones were shot down by air defense systems overnight over 15 Russian regions and the Crimean Peninsula.

Casualties in Lipetsk and Chernihiv

In Russia's Lipetsk region, two people lost their lives and two others were injured in a fire that broke out when a drone crashed onto a house. In an attack on a residential building in Ukraine's Chernihiv region, a woman and a 4-year-old child lost their lives.

Order of Freedom Presented to Elon Musk by Zelenskyy

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy presented the Ukrainian Order of Freedom to Elon Musk for his personal contribution to protecting human life and freedom. Zelenskyy emphasized the importance of the Starlink satellite internet network in Ukraine's military operations.

The Zelenskyy administration is requesting Musk to allow the satellite connection to remain active for a longer period to support Ukrainian forces' long-range drone attacks targeting Russian military and economic infrastructure.
