Thirteen-year-old Zhu Shuhan, an eighth-grader in Shanghai, generated 18,000 yuan, or approximately $2,600, in revenue within three days thanks to an AI-driven study tracking app she developed despite having no programming background.
Development Process of the Application
Thirteen-year-old Zhu Shuhan, who lives in Shanghai and has no programming background, started using artificial intelligence last year and had a large language model generate code by feeding it her ideas.
The design and implementation phase took a total of three to four days, and Shuhan removed the 'mother gets angry' feature because she wanted the app to have a softer tone for children.
Features of the Zai Chang App
Named Zai Chang, the application was designed to help parents monitor their children's study habits.
When the system detects that a child is playing with a phone or leaving the desk, it delivers a voice reminder through a virtual parent on the screen and prepares a concentration report at the end of the study session.
Competition and Revenue Generated
At a national AI product marketing competition held in Hangzhou, Shuhan ranked third among more than 50 participants and won a 5,000 yuan cash prize.
The competition did not feature a technical jury, and winners were determined based on the amount of revenue generated by the AI-generated applications over a three-day period.
Future Plans and Reception
One of the first users of the app was Shuhan's younger brother, an elementary school student, and Shuhan plans to offer the product at a more affordable price depending on demand.
On social media, users praised the young girl's creativity and entrepreneurial skills.
