With the back-to-school season, education and technology spending has gained momentum on e-commerce platforms. While consumers focus on product prices as well as installment options and payment terms, demand for upper-segment products such as computers and tablets has risen noticeably.

Rise in Education and Technology Spending

With the start of the school season, activity is picking up in the e-commerce sector. Along with traditional needs such as notebooks and uniforms, technology products needed by students are among the primary items driving up shopping volume.

Payment Terms and Consumer Preferences

Computer and Electronics Category Data

In July, the number of orders in the computer category increased by 17 percent compared to the same month last year, while turnover surged by 77 percent. Across the electronics category as a general rule, order counts recorded a growth of 24 percent.

September of Previous Year Statistics

It was observed that in the period of September 2025, computer order numbers increased by 31 percent and turnover by 80 percent.

Price Ranges of Technology Products

In the market, laptop prices start between 20 thousand and 30 thousand Turkish Liras, reaching up to 200 thousand Turkish Liras for high-performance models, while average prices hover around 50 thousand to 60 thousand Turkish Liras. As for tablets, average prices are at the level of 20 thousand to 30 thousand Turkish Liras.

First Days of School Season Preferences

Tolga Ünvan, MediaMarkt Turkey Marketing, E-Commerce and Corporate Communications Director, stated that tablets were the most preferred items in the first 6 days of the school season.
