New Directive for the Completion of Oil Pipelines in Iraq
Wanting to diversify its export routes due to disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz and the prevailing war environment, Iraq has decided to accelerate strategic oil projects.
Iraq has ordered the completion of two pipelines in order to create an alternative route for oil exports due to the US-Iran war and disruptions to passages in the Strait of Hormuz.
Critical Meeting and Officials
Iraqi Prime Minister Al-Zaidi met with Oil Minister Basim Khudair, ministry officials, and representatives of the contractor company to evaluate the latest status of the project.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the project is of great strategic importance for the country as it diversifies export routes and increases capacity.
Impacts of the War on Production
While Iraq's oil production experienced a major drop in April, May, and June due to the ongoing war, a recovery process began in July and August.
Alternative Pipeline Routes
The line extending from Basra to Fishabur provides a Kirkuk-Ceyhan connection, while the Haditha-Baniyas line creates an additional export route via Syria.
