The Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources is implementing a comprehensive new inspection mechanism based on risk analysis, prioritizing digitalization and transparency, in order to prevent mining accidents and take precautions before accidents occur.
Main Objectives of the New Inspection Model
Taking into account the lessons learned from past mining accidents, the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources aims to take precautions before accidents occur. With the new inspection model, sites will be meticulously examined.
Criteria Based on Risk Analysis
In the new regulation to be introduced for mining sites, detailed risk analyses will be carried out by comprehensively taking into account proximity to residential areas, environmental and geotechnical risks, and past inspection results.
Four Different Types of Inspections Will Be Implemented
General, financial, unannounced, and application-based inspections—totaling four distinct types—will be applied in sites within the scope of the Mining Law, thereby making processes much more transparent and secure.
Jurisdictions of Inspection Committees
The inspection committees to be formed will be equipped with the authority to examine information and documents, make measurements, take samples, and give instructions to site authorities. All findings will be recorded.
Right to Appeal and Evaluation Commission
Individuals for whom high administrative fines are proposed will be granted the right to object to the inspection report, and applications will be evaluated by the relevant commission.
