Project Era for the $500 Million Trade Target Between Turkey and Mongolia
Following the Joint Economic and Trade Committee protocol in May, the two countries have moved to turn cooperation in energy, infrastructure, and food into concrete projects.
In order to reach the $500 million trade volume target set between Turkey and Mongolia, new projects are being implemented in the energy, infrastructure, free zones, logistics, and food sectors. Steps taken to increase the current commercial relations between the two countries by approximately fivefold have gained momentum.
Project Phase in Trade Target
Following the Joint Economic and Trade Committee protocol signed in May, the process has been moved to a project basis in line with the $500 million trade target. It is aimed to increase the mutual trade, which stood at $104.7 million in 2025.
New Investments in the Energy Sector
Concrete steps were taken in the energy field to enable Turkish companies to take part in Mongolia's strategic development projects. Investors were sought for solar power plants and electricity storage facilities to be established in five regions across the country. With the completion of the projects, it is aimed to reach a solar energy capacity of 110 megawatts.
Public-Private Partnership Talks
The Mongolian Public-Private Partnership Center and the Ulaanbaatar Commercial Counselor met in June. While discussing the transfer of experiences in health, energy, and infrastructure, it was decided to increase the approximately $25 million Turkish investment in the country.
Free Zone Inspections
A delegation headed by Mongolian Deputy Prime Minister Nomtoibayar Nyamtaishir visited Turkey at the end of June. The delegation, which made inspections at the Istanbul Industry and Trade Free Zone, was informed about the operation of free zones and investor supports.
New Steps in the Food Sector
The DEIK Turkey-Mongolia Business Council will organize a food sector trade delegation to Ulaanbaatar in September. Turkish companies will hold talks with the Mongolian National Chamber of Commerce and Industry and participate in the UB Partnership 2026 Fair.
