Turkey and Syria come together for a 10 billion dollar trade target

Trade Minister Ömer Bolat met with Syrian officials in Damascus on the occasion of the International Damascus Trade Fair to discuss economic cooperation and the goal of reaching a 10 billion dollar trade volume.

Visit to Damascus and Official Talks

Trade Minister Ömer Bolat visited Damascus on the occasion of the 63rd International Damascus Trade Fair and met with Syrian Economy and Industry Minister Mohammad Nidal al-Shaar.

During this critical meeting, important issues regarding increasing economic cooperation and facilitating trade between the two countries were discussed.

10 Billion Dollar Trade Target

In a statement on his social media account, Minister Ömer Bolat reported that steps to bring the trade volume between Turkey and Syria to the 10 billion dollar level were evaluated in detail.

Strategic topics such as improving processes at customs gates and Syria's reconstruction process were also addressed during the talks.

Economic Gains of Border Provinces

Minister Bolat emphasized that Turkey's border provinces will be the regions most positively affected by the revival of mutual trade relations.

It was stated that border provinces will play a strategic role in the process of strengthening industrial infrastructure and implementing joint investments.

Organized Industrial Zone Investments

It was explicitly stated during the talks between the parties that both sides showed intense interest in Organized Industrial Zone investments.

Minister Bolat also met with Ahmet Rawad Ramadan, who was appointed as the Head of the Syrian Investment Agency, to discuss OIZ projects in the Kamune and Saraqib regions.
