According to international trade data for the second quarter of 2026 released by the European Statistical Office Eurostat, Turkey was recorded as the fifth country with which the European Union conducted the most imports and exports.

According to data released by the European Statistical Office, the European Union realized a total of 701.8 billion euros in goods imports from countries outside the bloc in the second quarter of 2026.

In the same period, the European Union's total exports to countries outside the bloc were calculated at the level of 680 billion euros, and significant increases were recorded in foreign trade data.

According to official data released, the European Union's total imports in the second quarter showed an increase of 11.7 percent compared to the same period of last year.

It was determined that there was a 4.5 percent rise in the total export volume realized outside the bloc compared to the same period of last year.

The country from which the European Union imported the most was the People's Republic of China with 153.6 billion euros and a 21.9 percent market share.

China was followed respectively by the US with 98.7 billion euros, the United Kingdom with 43.4 billion euros, and Switzerland with 36.9 billion euros.

Turkey's Import and Export Position

The amount of imports the European Union realized from Turkey was recorded as 25.5 billion euros in the second quarter of 2026, and Turkey ranked fifth in this area.

Exports made by bloc countries to Turkey materialized at the level of 27.3 billion euros, and Turkey became the fifth country to which the most exports were made with this figure.

The total trade volume formed between Turkey and the European Union in the second quarter of 2026 reached a magnitude of 52.8 billion euros.

With this data, Turkey maintained its fifth place among the European Union's most important strategic partners in terms of economic relations and foreign trade volume.
