More Evidence Emerges That Gen-Xers Feel the Most 'Whatever' About AI

Recent data shared by the Pew Research Center and Glassdoor shows that Generation X workers adopt a more neutral stance toward the use of artificial intelligence in the workplace compared to millennials and Generation Z.

Research Findings

A survey published by Pew earlier this month showed that Generation X participants aged 50 to 64 do not feel distinct excitement or opposition regarding artificial intelligence.

As reported by Bloomberg, a new study by Glassdoor also revealed results confirming this trend.

Intergenerational Rates

46.1 percent of Generation X workers who participated in the Glassdoor research made positive evaluations about the use of artificial intelligence in their workplaces.

This rate was recorded at 38.6 percent for millennials and 32.2 percent for Generation Z workers.

Avoiding Extreme Reactions

While general sentiment toward artificial intelligence across all age groups largely remains negative, Generation X stands out with its positive rate of approximately fifty percent.

Existing data indicates that this generation approaches the situation very coolly rather than harboring overly positive or negative feelings toward artificial intelligence.

Expert Evaluations and Data Limitations

Glassdoor senior economist Chris Martin stated that the fear of becoming obsolete due to older workers' tendency not to adopt new technologies has not materialized for now.

At the same time, the fact that the aforementioned economic analysis is based on self-selecting user reviews brings along scientific limitations in measuring general public trends.
