Key Features of the Microduck Model
The 25-centimeter-tall cute duck robot is capable of walking, carrying objects weighing up to 800 grams with its beak, getting back up when it falls, and roller skating.
The device is equipped with an onboard camera, lidar sensors, and two inertial measurement units (IMUs).
Software Support and Training Process
According to information shared by CEO Clem Delangue, the robot's behaviors can be trained in a simulation environment and uploaded directly to the device.
The developer kit, simulation, and reinforcement learning software infrastructure are made available to users via GitHub.
Hardware Strategy and Advanced Background
This new product launch follows the company's acquisition of French startup Pollen Robotics in April 2025 with the aim of developing affordable and open-source AI hardware.
Scheduled to begin shipping before Christmas, this robot aims to bring affordable robotics solutions to a wider audience.
