Adobe Announces New AI-Focused Beta Update for Photoshop

Adobe has released a new AI-heavy beta update for its popular graphics and photo editing software, Photoshop. As part of the update, a new interface, drawing-based editing tools, and improvements backed by Firefly Image 5 are being offered to users.

New AI-Powered Interface

Adobe is rolling out a new optional interface specifically designed for Photoshop's AI tools.

Launched in beta, the AI-Powered Editor view brings together all AI features, such as the text-based image editor, background remover, and image expander, into a single toolbar.

Direct Editing with Drawings

Alongside the update, new methods for refining AI edits have also been integrated into the system.

Users can take advantage of a marking feature that allows them to draw directly on the image to show Photoshop's AI assistant what they want to change.

According to Adobe, this enables users to select areas where colors will be changed without using text prompts, draw arrows to indicate locations, or brush rough shapes to suggest new elements.

Advanced Masking with Firefly Image 5

Adobe has also released an update for its Prompt to Edit Masks feature, which allows users to edit a mask using natural language commands.

The company states that the Firefly Image 5 model now understands the full context of an image, thereby eliminating the need to manually mark every area to be edited.

Users can now perform changes such as opening closed eyes or placing a hat on someone's head simply by describing them directly.
