Anthropic Signs $45 Billion AI Deal in West Virginia

Artificial intelligence company Anthropic has reportedly reached a massive $45 billion agreement with Nscale to utilize computing services at a data center in West Virginia. According to a Bloomberg report, the deal covers the Monarch Compute Campus in Mason County.
Details of the Massive Deal
According to information shared by Bloomberg, Anthropic, the company behind the AI assistant Claude, has entered into a colossal $45 billion agreement with Nscale. Within the scope of this agreement, the Monarch Compute Campus located in Mason County, West Virginia, will be utilized.
The 460 megawatts of electrical capacity to be provided under the project will power NVIDIA's next-generation Vera Rubin platform to support Anthropic's artificial intelligence research.
West Virginia's AI Vision
Following the development, West Virginia Governor Patrick Morrisey congratulated Senator Glenn Jeffries for his contributions to the state's marketing efforts. Governor Morrisey stated that they aim to make the state a major energy hub for AI data centers.
To attract AI data centers to the region, the West Virginia administration announced a plan last year to triple electricity generation by the middle of the century. Additionally, in 2025, the state legislature passed House Bill 2014, establishing a microgrid program to attract data centers.
