Public AI Kitchen Established at Santa Clara University
Launched in April, the initiative allows participants to explore AI tools without needing to code through open-access sessions held every Friday.
Santa Clara University has launched an "AI Kitchen" initiative led by computer science professor Kai Lukoff, where students, faculty, and the public can gain hands-on experience with artificial intelligence technologies.
AI Experience Without Coding
Operating under the motto "No code required to cook," the AI Kitchen aims to provide a welcoming environment where participants can experiment freely and without fear. Launched in April by computer science professor Kai Lukoff, these weekly drop-in gatherings are open to anyone every Friday afternoon.
Typically attended by around 50 people, these sessions feature students and faculty from various disciplines, along with occasional Silicon Valley professionals serving as "guest chefs" to conduct live tutorials.
Shaping the Technology of the Future
While participants have the opportunity to test AI tools in various fields such as medicine, marketing, and education, they can also work on longer-term projects referred to as "slow cooks."
Stating that the initiative's goal is not merely to introduce AI, Lukoff emphasizes that people should directly experience this technology to contribute to shaping it in a responsible, useful, and proper manner.
