Rates Between Belief and Worship
According to the research results, 94 percent of the participants stated that they believe in God and that God has an important place in their lives, while tendencies such as atheism and deism remained at the level of 4 percent.
Findings on Prayer Frequency
While 94 percent of society believes in God, the rate of those who regularly perform the five daily prayers was 40 percent. The rate of those who never or rarely pray was recorded as 36 percent.
Regional Differences in Religious Practices
Religious practices show significant differences according to geographical regions. Eastern Black Sea, Northeast, and Southeastern Anatolia are above average in belief and worship, while the rates are lower in the Aegean, Marmara, and Mediterranean.
Highest and Lowest Regions
While the Aegean Region showed the lowest rate, ranking last in the worship frequency index with 2.56 points, the Northeastern Anatolia Region ranked first across Turkey with 4.10 points.
Impact of Social Dynamics
While a secular lifestyle and urban dynamics in the western regions are reflected in worship rates, the preservation of the traditional structure in the East and Southeast ensures that religious practices are experienced intensively.
