Restructuring of the Specialized Healthcare Network in Dong Nai
Efforts are underway in Dong Nai to establish specialized centers and improve infrastructure under Resolution No. 72 to bring healthcare services closer to the public.
Dong Nai's specialized healthcare network is being restructured in accordance with Resolution No. 72. With specialized centers such as the Otolaryngology Center established within Dong Nai General Hospital, the goal is to bring advanced medical techniques to the public and reduce referrals to higher-level facilities.
Cooperation and Structuring Process
Leaders from the National Otolaryngology Hospital and the Dong Nai Department of Health signed a comprehensive cooperation agreement in October 2025 to concentrate resources. The Otolaryngology Center at Dong Nai General Hospital gained legal grounds with the approval of the City People's Committee.
Health Targets and Principles
The Department of Health assigned tasks based on six clear principles. By 2026, it is projected that there will be 10.6 doctors per 10,000 people, the number of hospital beds will reach 30.5 per 10,000 people, and the health insurance coverage rate will be 96%.
Management and Grassroots Services
The grassroots healthcare network has been restructured according to the local government model. Since the beginning of 2026, 95 health stations and 176 health station points have been transferred to the management of commune and ward people's committees.
Universal Health Checks
Nguyen Van Binh, Deputy Director of the Department of Health, stated that one of the most important highlights of Resolution No. 72 is universal health checks. To date, screenings have been conducted for over 2.3 million people across 95 districts and wards.
Planned Specialized Centers
According to the Provincial Health Infrastructure Development Plan, the goal is to develop centers such as Emergency 115, Otolaryngology, Cardiology, Oncology, Stroke, Geriatrics, Nephrology and Urology, and Tropical Diseases.
Future Investments and Goals
Le Truong Son, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee, emphasized that equipment investments must be supported by human resource training. New investment plans are underway for Long Khanh Regional General Hospital and Dong Nai Children's Hospital.
