Fidan Atalay, known on social media as 'Fidan Hoca', was arrested by the Ankara Duty Magistrate Criminal Court after being detained in Izmir.
Detention and Arrest Process
Fidan Atalay, known for her social media posts and recognized in the public eye as 'Fidan Hoca' under the handle fidannatalay, was detained in Izmir on obscenity charges. Following her procedures at the police station, Atalay was referred to the Ankara Duty Magistrate Criminal Court, gave her statement via SEGBIS on August 29, 2026, and was arrested by the court.
Basis of the Investigation
In a statement made by authorities, it was stated that the shared videos and photos constituted the crime of obscenity within the scope of Article 226 of the Turkish Penal Code. It was also reported that an ex officio investigation was initiated on the grounds that generating income through this method also encompassed the crime of laundering assets derived from a crime, as stipulated in Article 282 of the same code.

It was determined that Fidan Atalay, who once went viral on social media with her lecture videos, had quit teaching and turned entirely to social media. It was noted that Atalay generated income through the platform's paid subscription system.
