Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Champions League champion Al Ahli faced Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) Professional League champion Auckland in the first round. Played at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, Al Ahli won the match 1-0 to advance.

Saleh Abu Al-Shamat scored the winning goal for Al Ahli in the 63rd minute. National football player Merih Demiral also took the field wearing the Al Ahli jersey in the match.

Auckland Reduced to 10 Men and the New Opponent
