China Accelerates Robotization Drive Against Demographic Challenges and Competition with the US
Leveraging its advantage of rapid parts supply in the manufacturing ecosystem, China aims to close its future labor shortage by producing robotic arms capable of performing more than 90 percent of repetitive tasks in many sectors, from automotive to wind turbines.
China is increasing its investments in robotic technologies to overcome demographic challenges such as labor shortages and to compete with the US in the global technology race. Domestic manufacturers like Chengdu-based CRP Technology are leading this transformation by developing advanced robotic arms for industrial use.

China plans to overcome demographic barriers with a robotization drive to maintain its position as one of the world's largest manufacturing hubs. This strategy aims to both address future labor shortages and gain an advantage in competition with the US in the global technology market.
CRP Technology and Advanced Robotic Arms
While around 30 employees produce robots at the CRP Technology factory operating in Chengdu, engineers are working on prototypes to be used in building new robots. The manufactured robotic arms are envisioned to be used in critical sectors such as automotive, electronics, and wind turbines.
Pang Kai, from the company's research and development team, points out that there may not be enough workers in the country within the next decade. A single developed robotic arm can be programmed to perform more than 90 percent of repetitive tasks.
China's Manufacturing Ecosystem Advantage
China's greatest strength in robotic technologies stems from its vast and rapid supply chain. While parts needed for robot production can be obtained in less than an hour in China, this supply process can take up to a week in Europe. This infrastructure gives the country great speed in mass production.
