How sources are selected, verified, attributed, and linked in news, guides, and analysis.

Source priority

We prioritize official statements, legislation, company and product documentation, research publications, direct statements, and reliable reporting close to the event. Significant claims based on one secondary source are checked against additional evidence whenever practical.

Attribution and links

Original information, data, or statements obtained from another publication are attributed. When appropriate, a link helps readers reach the underlying document. Linking to an external source does not imply endorsement of all its views.

Evaluating sources

We consider publication date, expertise, access to direct information, correction history, and possible conflicts of interest. Anonymous or difficult-to-verify social media posts are not treated as conclusive evidence on their own.

Copyright and quotation

Source texts are not republished in full. Quotations are limited to what is necessary, and content is prepared with original explanation, context, and analysis. Available license and attribution information is preserved for images.
