Digital technology sector revenues registered significant growth in August

According to data shared by the Ministry of Science and Technology, the digital technology sector's revenue gained great momentum in August, estimated at VND 680,586 billion, showing a 36 percent increase compared to the same period last year.

In August, the digital technology sector's revenue was estimated at VND 680,586 billion, showing a 36 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
During this period, the export volume of digital technology products and goods reached 22.4 billion dollars, recording a 41 percent increase on an annual basis.
Postal Sector Developments
Service revenues in the postal sector reached VND 9,260 billion in August, increasing by 3 percent compared to July and 22 percent compared to the same period last year.
The volume of postal items reached approximately 440 million, registering growths of 2.3 percent and 14 percent, respectively.
Internet Infrastructure and Domain Names
While internet infrastructure across the country continues to grow, it was reported that as of August 15, there were 699,722 domain names with the .vn extension in Vietnam.
In August alone, 20,355 new domain names were added to the system, with the total year-on-year increase standing at 5.5 percent.
Global Rankings and Data Transactions
Vietnam's IPv6 adoption rate reached 66 percent, placing it second in Southeast Asia and seventh in the global rankings.
According to data from the National Data Integration and Sharing Platform, 4.7 billion data transactions were reached as of August 15, and all localities were interconnected.
Scientific Publications and Institutional Structure
Between July 15 and August 14, 2026, Vietnamese scientists had 2,647 international publications in the Scopus database.
As of the end of August, 968 science and technology enterprises and 20 science and technology exchange platforms operated in the country.
Industrial Property Applications
A total of 18,348 industrial property applications were received by the Ministry of Science and Technology in August alone, achieving a 30.1 percent increase compared to last year.
Within the scope of the procedures carried out, 8,473 protection certificates were issued to the relevant parties during the same period.
Legal Developments and Targets
The National Assembly unanimously approved the draft law with the votes of the participating deputies at the session held on August 24.
The primary focus in September will be the development of the Rare Earth Elements Project and digital infrastructure issues.
