Scientists Gather at the 9th National Congress of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations
Hundreds of delegates attending the congress came together to evaluate the role of science and technology in the country's new development phase.
The 9th National Congress of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations convened on August 27-28, with the participation of hundreds of delegates, including numerous academics.
Organization of the Congress and Participants
The Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations held its 9th National Congress on August 27 and 28. A total of 489 official delegates attended the event, including 233 doctorate holders and 94 professors and associate professors.
Expanding Network and Membership Structure
As of the end of July 2026, the network encompasses 34 provincial and municipal-level associations of unions, 92 national-level professional associations, and 575 science and technology organizations. This structure aims to bring together young intellectuals and business professionals.
The Place of Intellectuals in National Development
Bui Thi Minh Hoai, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, stated in her speech at the congress that intellectuals are a valuable asset of the nation. It was emphasized that innovation and digital transformation are critical for development goals.
New Development Phase and Key Emphases
Union President Phan Xuan Dung stated that the congress was organized at a time when the country is entering a new development phase. The vital importance of science and technology in this process was shared with the participants.
