Workshop on Meteorological and Hydrological Monitoring Solutions Held in Hanoi

Transition to Automatic and Digital Monitoring Systems
The Meteorological and Hydrological Monitoring Center organized a scientific workshop on monitoring techniques and solutions in Hanoi on August 25, 2026. Delivering the opening speech of the event, Center Director Nguyen Vinh Thu thanked the participating experts, scientists, and managers.
Director Thu stated that modern monitoring methods are shifting from manual measurements to automatic, digitized, and smartly connected systems in order to maximize the speed and accuracy of data transmission in disaster warnings. He emphasized that contributions are expected through the meeting to apply ongoing research to operational processes.
Presented Reports and Technological Solutions
Within the scope of the workshop, technical reports under three main headings were presented to the participants. The first report focused on the criteria for selecting automatic water flow measuring devices to be used in tidal rivers, evaluation methods, and engineering solutions for these areas.
In the second report, the testing processes of the Logger multi-interface circuit module and software systems used for data collection and transmission over the IoT platform at the National Meteorological and Hydrological Network Center were shared. At the same time, a model that manages and evaluates sediment content changes in a WebGIS environment was introduced.
In the final report, criteria for evaluating the quality of temperature and precipitation observation data obtained from stations connected to the national network were presented, and views were exchanged among the delegates.
