Ninety-seven-year-old Guna Maya Bohara, who was scooped out of the rubble with an excavator during devastating floods in Nepal, has become a symbol of the disaster, while the death toll has exceeded 676.
During the massive floods in Nepal, 97-year-old Guna Maya Bohara, who remained trapped under the rubble of a nursing home, was rescued in the bucket of an earthmover through a joint operation by the police and the Nepal Army, becoming a symbol of the disaster.
Rescue Operation from the Rubble
During the devastating floods in Nepal, the nursing home where 97-year-old Guna Maya Bohara was staying was flooded and collapsed, leaving the elderly woman trapped beneath the debris.
Compared to a Warrior
Rescued from the rubble as a result of joint efforts by the police and the Nepal Army lasting about four hours, Bohara was transported to a safe area in the bucket of an excavator. Her relatives compared this image of her to a victorious warrior.
Heavy Toll of the Disaster
In this disaster, which triggered flash floods in the Bhote Koshi River, 676 bodies have been recovered so far, and around 3,000 people, including more than 300 Indian nationals, remain missing.
Reconstruction and New Dangers
While the meteorological department has issued warnings regarding new rainfall and storms, Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle announced that 4 to 5 billion dollars are needed for the country's reconstruction.
