US Imposes Sanctions on India-Based Companies Over Iran Trade

The United States announced that it has subjected four India-based companies and three Indian citizens to sanctions under 'Operation Economic Outcast', which aims to cut off the revenue sources of the Iranian regime.

The United States added four India-based companies and three Indian citizens to the sanctions list for allegedly being involved in Iran's oil and petrochemical trade.
This step was taken within the framework of Operation Economic Outcast, newly launched by the Washington administration, which aims to eliminate the revenue sources financing the Iranian regime.
Targeted Companies
The list announced by the US State Department included Portease Partners LLP, Sadashiva Overseas Ltd, PP Softtech Pvt Ltd, and Prakrutees Infra Impex India Pvt Ltd.
Portease Partners, a customs broker, was targeted on the grounds that it facilitated the import of petrochemical products from Iran into India.
Import Allegations and Amounts
Washington alleged that Sadashiva Overseas imported approximately $69 million worth of Iranian petroleum products from various firms.
It was stated that PP Softtech and Prakrutees Infra each imported approximately $25 million worth of Iranian petroleum products.
Individuals Subjected to Sanctions
Among the three Indian citizens named in the list are Portease partners Harish Ramchandra Rangi and Indrismiya Ashrafmiya Shekh, as well as PP Softtech manager Prashant Garg.
It was stated that these individuals and entities knowingly engaged in significant transactions in the purchase, transport, or marketing of petrochemical products from Iran.
Comprehensive Treasury Department Move
The individuals and entities in question were among 60 individuals, entities, and vessels simultaneously sanctioned by the US Treasury Department on Monday.
Developments in Diplomatic Missions
It was reported that the US has begun sending personnel back to certain diplomatic missions that had been evacuated or downscaled due to tensions in the Middle East.
This move indicates that Washington views the risk of conflict escalation with Iran as lower in the near term, while some embassies will initially operate below full capacity.
