Artificial intelligence company Cognition, which has reached a valuation of $26 billion, has signed a five-year lease for a massive 180,000-square-foot office building in San Francisco left vacant by autonomous vehicle company Cruise.

Details of the Office Deal

Cognition, the developer of Devin—an autonomous AI agent that assists software engineers in writing and testing code—has signed a five-year sublease agreement to take over the large office building located at 333 Brannan St.

Growth and Funding Surge

This new leasing move will allow the company to expand its presence in San Francisco by more than sevenfold compared to its current office space in the South Park neighborhood, following rapid funding rounds.

Status of Cruise

Autonomous taxi company Cruise, the former tenant of the building, entered a challenging period after regulators suspended its permit following an accident in San Francisco in 2023.
