Atlassian and OpenAI expand partnership to turn enterprise knowledge into action

Atlassian and OpenAI are expanding their partnership to enhance enterprise AI agents and workflows by integrating next-generation models into their platforms.

Scope of the Partnership and New Models

Atlassian and OpenAI are growing their partnership to deliver AI experiences that support teams in planning, building, and delivering work. Under this new agreement, OpenAI's frontier models are integrated to power agents running on the Atlassian platform and Rovo.

Rovo and Teamwork Graph Integration

Rovo combines OpenAI intelligence with Atlassian's enterprise context layer called Teamwork Graph. This structure connects people, projects, documents, and decisions, enabling the AI to gain a deep understanding of how a company operates.

Software Development Processes and Codex Usage

The collaboration builds upon work that began in 2023, evolving alongside Atlassian's increasing adoption rate of Codex and ChatGPT Enterprise. Thousands of developers within the company utilize Codex across terminals, IDEs, and code review workflows.

Advanced Models and Jira Integration

The new agreement grants Atlassian expanded access to OpenAI's latest frontier models, including the GPT-6 Astra and GPT-5.6 series. Additionally, OpenAI continues to use Jira to manage critical workflows.

Enterprise Knowledge and AI Reasoning

Through OpenAI APIs, Atlassian is bringing new reasoning capabilities directly to Rovo. A product manager can turn to Rovo to find out whether the team is meeting its goals, and the system can scan Jira tickets and Confluence documents to provide analysis.

Next-Generation AI-Powered Teamwork

The companies are exploring deeper Jira integrations that will make it easier for teams to assign work to AI agents, track progress, and record decisions. These features are also supported by the DX platform, which measures developer performance.
