Lake County Acro-AI-Powered Emergency Medical Call Evaluation System
Lake County has signed a five-year agreement with Eventide Communications to automatically evaluate emergency medical calls.
Lake County commissioners have approved a five-year, $190,816 agreement with Eventide Communications to use artificial intelligence for the automatic review of emergency medical dispatch calls. With this new system, human oversight and responsibility for personnel decisions will remain entirely with supervisors.
AI-Powered Call Review
Lake County has decided to add artificial intelligence capabilities to its existing recording system to automatically evaluate every call classified as an emergency medical dispatch.
Through this software, all calls are scanned with the goal of generating comprehensive reports on whether dispatchers adhered to procedures.
Human Oversight and Personnel Decisions
Even with the automated evaluation system in place, final personnel decisions, coaching, and corrective actions will remain entirely the responsibility of human supervisors.
Findings generated by the software do not carry a binding decision on their own, but rather point out situations that require supervisors' attention.
Ohio State's New Regulations
An Ohio state rule that took effect in May requires dispatch centers to have a formal program to evaluate emergency medical dispatch procedures.
The affected centers must review at least two percent of calls where pre-arrival instructions were or should have been given.
Software Capabilities and Confidence Scores
Eventide Communications' artificial intelligence tool can evaluate calls against local forms and compare them with computer-aided dispatch records.
The system provides high, medium, or low confidence scores, helping supervisors determine which evaluations need to be re-examined.
