Introducing Claude Haiku 5.5 on AWS | Amazon Web Services

Amazon Web Services has announced that Claude Haiku 5.5, the fastest and most cost-efficient model in the Claude 5.5 family, is now available on Amazon Bedrock and the Claude Platform on AWS.

Key Features of the Model

Claude Haiku 5.5 is the most capable Haiku model to date, delivering superior performance in coding, tool use, computer use, and AI agent tasks. Compared to the previous version, Claude Haiku 4.5, it operates at approximately 75 percent lower cost for most tasks.

Effort Controls and Flexibility

The model comes with effort controls, a first for the Claude family. This feature allows users to optimize cost versus intelligence for each specific task rather than having to choose a single setting for an entire workload.

Integration with Claude Opus 5.5

Claude Haiku 5.5 works seamlessly with the recently announced Claude Opus 5.5 model. While Opus 5.5 handles complex planning and reasoning tasks, Haiku 5.5 executes well-defined tasks quickly and at scale.

Infrastructure and Security Benefits

Delivered via Amazon Bedrock, the service ensures that data remains within the AWS infrastructure, supporting regional data residency. It also integrates with existing AWS security and auditing tools such as IAM, CloudTrail, and CloudWatch.

Accessibility and Getting Started

Claude Haiku 5.5 can be tested via the Amazon Bedrock console and invoked programmatically through Anthropic Messaging APIs or AWS SDKs. The model is available across various geographic inference profiles and regions.
