Executives of major artificial intelligence companies signed a voluntary agreement at a meeting held at the White House. However, widespread public reservations jeopardize the US position in the global AI race with China.

Executives from Anthropic, Google, Meta, OpenAI, Nvidia, and xAI gathered at the White House to discuss steps to be taken in the field of artificial intelligence.

At the meeting, a voluntary AI agreement was signed, which includes strong internal controls and independent external evaluations.

Public Concern Over Artificial Intelligence

Despite the agreement, societal resistance to the widespread adoption of AI continues to pose a serious challenge.

According to an EqualAI study conducted by YouGov, 46 percent of US citizens are uncomfortable with companies using artificial intelligence on them or their data.

Steps to Build Trust

While 71 percent of participants stated that positive experiences would increase their trust, 63 percent support independent scientific evaluations.

Experts argue that building appropriate governance capacity, ensuring accountability, and increasing AI literacy are of vital importance for mass adoption.
