Microsoft has opened pre-orders for its new Surface Laptop Ultra model, which features an Nvidia AI chip and has a starting price of $2,599.

Pre-order Process and Shipping Date

In an announcement made by Microsoft executive Pavan Davuluri at an event in San Francisco, it was reported that the device is now available for pre-order and shipments will begin on October 16.

In a blog post published by the company, information was also shared regarding the device's design details and connectivity options.

Hardware and Design Features

The new laptop features a 15-inch screen and is designed with a weight of 4.4 pounds. The device can offer up to 128 gigabytes of unified memory and up to one petaflop of processing power.

The computer includes the world's first magnetic USB-C port, similar to Apple's MagSafe connection, alongside two standard USB-C ports.

Artificial Intelligence and Chip Power

The Blackwell RTX Spark GPU housed inside the device has processing power equivalent to the Nvidia DGX-1 data center server, which was released in 2016 and came with massive costs.

Thanks to this new device, users can run numerous artificial intelligence models directly on their computers without being dependent on the cloud or paying high monthly costs.

Software Partnerships

During the event, it was also publicly announced that Meta will offer a custom version of its popular Muse AI assistant for Windows.

With the growth of the artificial intelligence market, tech giants aim to have users handle their workloads directly on their devices rather than through the cloud.
