Bozcaada International Ecological Documentary Film Festival Begins
The 13th BIFED opened its doors with the concept of accountability. At the opening ceremony, miners who lost their lives in Soma were commemorated and the war in Palestine was emphasized.
The thirteenth Bozcaada International Ecological Documentary Film Festival met with cinema enthusiasts through a held ceremony. Forty-four documentaries selected from over seventy countries will be screened at the event, which will continue until October eleventh.
The Beginning of the Festival
Meeting with the people of Bozcaada once again in its thirteenth year, BIFED officially began with the opening ceremony held last night.
Screenings and Jury
In the event lasting until October eleventh, forty-four documentaries selected from over seventy countries will meet with audiences at the Bozcaada Public Education Center and Salhane.
The jury of this year's festival includes Patricia Andres, Isha Tomar, Murad Özdemir, Onur Aytaç, Güzin Çamur, Ben Bassauer, and Bruno Schneider.
Opening Speeches
Making the opening speech of the festival, Event Coordinator Nigar Mat, while explaining the concept, sent greetings to the genocide-surviving people of Palestine and all geographies devastated by war.
Festival Director Petra Holzer stated in her speech that the festival program draws attention to the consequences of renewable energy projects.
Miners in Soma Commemorated
At the festival opening, workers Halit Erçay, Kerim Ören, Ramazan İnce, İsa Olcay, and Ömer Karakaya, who lost their lives in the mining disaster that occurred in Soma on October first, were commemorated.
Opening Film
Following the speeches, the opening film titled Time Among the Olive Groves, directed by Fany de la Chica, was presented to the appreciation of the audience.
