The Cemal Reşit Rey Concert Hall reopened its doors to art lovers with a ceremony following a one-year comprehensive restoration process by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Heritage. Speaking at the opening, IMM Deputy Mayor Nuri Aslan drew attention to the social importance of supporting artists.
Opening Ceremony of the Renewed Hall
Following the completion of a one-year comprehensive restoration work carried out by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Heritage, the Cemal Reşit Rey Concert Hall reopened its doors. Local government officials, art lovers, and numerous citizens attended the opening ceremony.
Comprehensive Restoration Works
IMM Deputy Secretary General Dr. Mahir Polat shared details about the historical background of the hall and the renewal process during his speech at the ceremony. It was stated that within the scope of the restoration, the building's mechanical installation was completely renewed, and the sound and stage technologies were updated.
Along with the works carried out, new social areas were added to the concert hall. A café, a restaurant, an outdoor resting point, and a library consisting of special art books were added to the building.
Emphasis on Culture and Art
IMM Deputy Mayor Nuri Aslan stated in his speech at the opening ceremony that they aim to carry Istanbul's pluralistic culture into the future. He expressed that they are working to bring art to every neighborhood of the city and that the stage will be fully packed in the new season.
During the ceremony, the critical role of composer Cemal Reşit Rey, who was commemorated on the 41st anniversary of his passing, in Turkish culture and art life was once again recalled.

In his speech, Nuri Aslan conveyed the greetings of IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is detained in Silivri, and touched upon the attacks that took place in Başakşehir and Esenyurt. He emphasized the importance of building a society where children will grow up safely.
Stating that they will continue to support republican values and the artists of these values, Aslan expressed that societies that fail to support their artists are doomed to lose.
