Küçükçekmece Municipality opened its 2026-2027 Culture and Arts Season with a special program organized in memory of master writer Yaşar Kemal at the Cennet Culture and Art Center, with the participation of art enthusiasts.
Opening Night and High Attendance
Küçükçekmece Municipality started its new season with a meaningful program bringing together prominent figures from the literature and art worlds. The event, held at the Cennet Culture and Art Center, was attended by the author's wife, Ayşe Semiha Baban, association presidents, writers, actors, journalists, and numerous art enthusiasts.
Yaşar Kemal Exhibition Opened
As part of the season opening, a special exhibition inspired by the author's life and works was presented to the audience. Speaking at the opening of the exhibition, curated by Hakan Dağlı, association presidents emphasized the universal dimension of Yaşar Kemal's literature.
Message of Loyalty from Municipal Management
Speaking at the program, Küçükçekmece Deputy Mayor Sedat Özkan drew attention to the author's special place in the district's memory. Özkan stated that they want to make the traces left by the master visible again and pass them on to future generations.

Within the scope of the evening, a documentary directed by Cengiz Özkarabekir was screened, and journalist Nebil Özgentürk spoke about his legacy in the literary world.

While beloved figures of the theater world took the stage with a special performance, Cengiz Özkan, the powerful interpreter of Anatolian music, performed folk songs with his orchestra at the finale of the night.
