Preparations Continue for the 63rd International Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival
Ahead of Turkey's long-established cinema gathering, the city's iconic Venus statues have been placed in the squares, spreading the festival excitement throughout the city.
As the countdown continues for the 63rd International Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival, Turkey's longest-running cinema organization, the city's iconic Venus statues have begun to be placed at various locations.
Venus Statues Across the City
Preparations continue at full speed ahead of the festival, which will meet cinema enthusiasts from October 24 to 31. The Venus statues, which are the symbol of the organization and serve as the award figurine, have begun taking their places at various points around the city prior to the event.
Meaning of the Statues and Preparation Process
The gold-colored Venus statues holding an orange bring a festival atmosphere to the city on streets and intersections. Retrieved from storage and having undergone painting and maintenance by Metropolitan Municipality teams, the statues strengthen the symbolic appearance of the city.
The golden orange in the hand of the Venus statue symbolizes Antalya, while the wavy forms on its skirt represent the sea of the city.
History of the Festival
First organized in 1964 upon the initiative of the then Mayor of Antalya, Avni Tolunay, the festival has over the years become one of the most important events in Antalya's culture and arts life.

In this year's 63rd edition of the festival, 12 films in the National Feature Film Competition, 13 films in the International Feature Film Competition, and 10 films in the National Short Film Competition will appear before the jury.
