China is preparing to resume its October refined fuel exports, which were briefly halted during the Golden Week holiday. This strategic decision is anticipated to alleviate supply constraints in the global diesel, gasoline, and jet fuel markets.

Resumption of Exports

According to information obtained from trade sources, China is preparing to reactivate its October refined fuel exports, which were temporarily suspended due to the Golden Week holiday.

The decision in question will make a significant contribution to alleviating current supply shortages in diesel, gasoline, and jet fuel markets on a global scale.

Approved Export Volumes

According to data shared by industry representatives, China has approved a total of approximately 3.7 million metric tons of gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel exports for the month of October.

Meanwhile, Chinese refiners were expected to realize slightly over 4 million tons of exports in these three products during September.

Background of the Restrictions

China, positioned as the world's largest oil importer, had restricted fuel exports in March upon disruptions to crude oil flows stemming from the war between the US, Israel, and Iran.

Although Beijing partially eased controls during the July and September period, it continues to monitor export activities through a stricter inspection mechanism based on monthly reviews.

Impacts on Global Energy Markets

The wars in the Middle East and the Russia-Ukraine conflict, which negatively impact refined fuel production, play a decisive role in China's decision regarding exports.

While production disruptions continue to drive diesel prices upward in particular, countries are making an intense supply effort in order to secure supply.
