Inflation Protection for Deposits
Hakan Akçam, Chairman of the All Real Estate Consultants Association, stated that writing a net amount in Turkish Lira for the deposit in rental agreements leads to the deposit eroding against inflation.
Refund Based on Current Rent
It was noted that if the deposit amount is recorded in the contract as one or two months' rent, the payment can be retrieved based on the current rental value when the house is vacated.
Other Important Considerations in Rental Agreements
It is of great importance to meet face-to-face with the landlord during the contract process or to request an official power of attorney.
It is recommended that legal rent increase rates be clearly added to the contract and all payments must be made through banking channels.
