Turkey's exports in September increased by 15.4 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, approaching 26 billion dollars, while total exports for the last 12 months reached a record level of 283.7 billion dollars. However, this strong performance in dollar terms was not reflected in volume growth.

Record Levels in September Exports

Turkey's exports recorded an increase of 15.4 percent in September compared to the same month of the previous year and approached 26 billion dollars. Accordingly, total exports for the last 12 months also reached a record level of 283.7 billion dollars.

Dollar-Based Increase Was Not Reflected in Volume Rate

The strong dollar-based performance in exports was not accompanied by an increase in volume. In September, exports experienced a decline of 0.6 percent in terms of volume, and a 2.0 percent decline in the January-September period.

Prominent Sectors and Value Changes

In September, total exports increased by approximately 3.5 billion dollars compared to the same month of the previous year. While the jewelry, chemical, and electrical-electronics sectors stood out in this increase, the total growth of these three sectors approached 2.2 billion dollars.

Bullion Gold Impact in the Jewelry Sector

Mustafa Özcan, President of the Jewelry Exporters' Association, stated that a significant portion of the rise stemmed from bullion gold exports, and that its contribution to the sector in terms of labor and added value was limited.

The Role of Prices in the Chemical Sector

Vefa İbrahim Aracı, President of the Istanbul Chemicals and Chemical Products Exporters' Association, stated that prices played an important role in the value increase of chemical exports and that there was no corresponding increase in terms of quantity.

Status of the Electrical and Electronics Sector

Mehmet Kavaklıoğlu, President of the Electrical and Electronics Exporters' Association, noted that in September, volume increased by 7.9 percent and value by 36.2 percent, and that the rise in commodity prices was reflected in the figures.

TIM's Emphasis on Healthy Growth

Mustafa Gültepe, President of the Turkish Exporters Assembly, stated that although exports increased in terms of value, there was a decline in volume, pointing out that both elements are essential for healthy growth.
