Economic Agenda Intensifies in September: MTP and Interest Rate Decision Awaited

Many critical data and developments such as growth, inflation, exports, interest rate decisions, and the new Medium-Term Program (MTP) will be monitored in the Turkish economy in September.

With the summer months behind us, a busy data calendar begins in the Turkish economy in September, featuring growth, inflation, foreign trade, the interest rate decision, and the new Medium-Term Program covering the 2027-2029 period.

Growth and Labor Force Data

The first data of the week will be the second-quarter growth figures to be announced on Monday, August 31. The Turkish Statistical Institute will announce the results for the April-June period.

Economists expect the economy to record growth in the second quarter compared to the same period of last year. Labor force statistics will also be shared on the same day.

Inflation and Foreign Trade Figures

Inflation data for August will be published on Thursday, September 3. The Ministry of Trade and the Turkish Exporters Assembly will also announce provisional foreign trade data.

Central Bank Interest Rate Decision

The Monetary Policy Committee of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey will announce its interest rate decision to the public on September 10 at its sixth meeting of the year. The Central Bank had kept the policy rate constant at its previous meeting.

Medium-Term Program and Budget Calendar

In the first week of September, the updated Medium-Term Program is expected to be shared with the public and basic macroeconomic targets for the 2027-2029 period are to be determined.
