Economic Confidence Index Exceeds Threshold of 100 in August 2026
According to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute, the economic confidence index rose to 100.6 in August.
The Turkish Statistical Institute shared the Economic Confidence Index data for the August 2026 period with the public. According to the calculations, the index, which was 99.8 in July, registered an increase of 0.8 percent in August to reach a value of 100.6.
Rise in the Economic Confidence Index
According to the data announced by the Turkish Statistical Institute, the economic confidence index rose to the 100.6 level in August. This indicator, which was 99.8 in July, registered an increase of 0.8 percent compared to the previous month.
Consumer and Real Sector Data
Different movements were observed in the sub-indices in August. While the consumer confidence index increased by 1 percent to reach a value of 90.8, the real sector manufacturing industry confidence index rose to the 102.4 level with an increase of 1.2 percent.
Changes in Sectoral Confidence Indices
Declines were recorded in various sectors. The services sector confidence index decreased by 0.1 percent to fall to 111.9, while the retail trade sector confidence index took the value of 110.1 with a 0.8 percent drop. The construction sector confidence index also became 83.1 with a 0.4 percent decrease.
Meaning and Evaluation of the Index
Taking values between 0 and 200, an economic confidence index above 100 expresses optimism regarding the general economic situation. The value of 100.6 in August revealed that an optimistic picture stands out in general economic expectations.
