Following the summer months, the economic agenda enters a busy period
As markets focus on the growth data for the April-June period, inflation, foreign trade, interest rate decisions, and the Medium-Term Program will be monitored in September.
With the end of the summer months, the economic agenda is becoming active once again, as markets turn their attention to the upcoming second-quarter growth figures and critical macroeconomic developments to be tracked throughout September.
Second-Quarter Growth Data to Be Announced
Markets will focus on the second-quarter growth data to be released on Monday, August 31. Gross Domestic Product figures for the April-June period of the year will be announced by TÜİK at 10:00.
The Turkish economy recorded a growth rate of 2.5 percent in the first quarter of the year. Economists participating in the AA Finance expectation survey estimated that GDP would increase by 2.80 percent annually in the second quarter.
Labor Force and Foreign Trade Data Will Be Tracked
The Turkish Statistical Institute will also share the labor force statistics for July with the public on the same day as the growth data.
Provisional foreign trade data for August is expected to be announced by the Ministry of Trade and the Turkish Exporters Assembly on Thursday, September 3.
August Inflation Figures Awaited
TÜİK will announce the August inflation figures to the public on Thursday, September 3 at 10:00, in the first days of September.
Inflation data ranks among the key indicators closely monitored regarding the direction of the markets.
Central Bank Interest Rate Decision and Budget Developments
Another focal point for the markets will be the decisions to be made by the Monetary Policy Committee of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey.
The Committee will announce its interest rate decision at its meeting on September 10. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Treasury and Finance will announce the central government budget realizations on September 15.
Medium-Term Program and Future Road Map
In addition to the macroeconomic indicators to be announced next month, the details of the Medium-Term Program, which serves as the 3-year road map of the Turkish economy, will also be followed.
