Industrial Production Data for August Announced
According to the August data announced by the Turkish Statistical Institute, industrial production declined on both a monthly and annual basis.
The Turkish Statistical Institute has released the industrial production data for August. According to the announced data, the downward trend in production on an annual and monthly basis has reached its fourth month.
General Downward Trend in Industrial Production
According to the August industrial production data published by the Turkish Statistical Institute, production recorded a 1 percent decrease on a monthly basis. The annual decline materialized as 1.9 percent, thereby carrying the streak of decreases into its fourth month.
Annual Performance of Sub-sectors
When examining the sub-sectors of industry, the mining and quarrying sector index showed an increase of 1.7 percent compared to the same month of the previous year. The manufacturing sector index experienced a drop of 2.5 percent.
The electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning production and distribution sector index recorded an increase of 1.3 percent on an annual basis.
Monthly Changes in Sub-sectors
Looking at sub-sector developments on a monthly basis, the mining and quarrying sector index recorded a 4.1 percent increase compared to the previous month. In contrast, the manufacturing sector index decreased by 1.6 percent.
Additionally, the electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning production and distribution sector index showed a 3.3 percent increase compared to the previous month.
