US President Donald Trump announced the establishment of an official investigation committee to examine allegations that Federal Reserve Board Member Lisa Cook made misrepresentations in mortgage documents.

Structure of the Investigation Committee

In an official statement released by the White House, it was stated that the newly formed committee will include the President's Deputy Assistant for Economic Policy, the Chair of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and the Director of the Office of Government Ethics.

Hearing and Defense Schedule

While a closed-door hearing to address the allegations against Cook is planned to take place at the White House on November 5, the hearing proceedings will be recorded, and Lisa Cook will be able to submit her written defense to the committee by November 10.

Committee's Report and Recommendation

After evaluating Cook's written statement and the collected evidence, the committee will submit its findings and legal analysis to Trump, informing him whether there is cause for removal.

Judicial Process and the Supreme Court

Trump's previous attempt to remove her had been taken to the judiciary, and the Supreme Court decided in June that Lisa Cook could continue to serve while the judicial process was ongoing.
