The Mapping the World's Prices 2026 report comparatively examines the square meter prices of purchasing an apartment in the city center across a total of 69 cities, 28 of which are in Europe.
Europe's Most Expensive Cities
According to the report, Zurich is the most expensive city to buy housing in the city center in Europe, followed by Geneva and London, respectively. The square meter price in Zurich stands at 22,910 euros.
Istanbul's Position
The most striking result of the list came from Istanbul; the city was announced as the cheapest European city to buy an apartment in the center. The square meter price in Istanbul was calculated at 2,646 euros, with Athens located just above it at 3,442 euros.
Global Outlook
In the comparison including 69 major cities worldwide, the most expensive place to buy housing was determined to be Hong Kong with a square meter price of 23,790 euros.
