July 2026 Unemployment and Employment Data Announced

According to the results of the household labor force survey in Turkey for July, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was recorded at 8.1%, while the total number of unemployed reached 2 million 860 thousand people.

Unemployment Rate and Number

Across Turkey, the number of unemployed persons aged 15 and over increased by 150 thousand people compared to the previous month in July, reaching 2 million 860 thousand people. The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate realized at the level of 8.1% with a 0.3 percentage point increase.

According to the announced data, the unemployment rate was calculated as 6.8% for men, while it was estimated at 10.6% for women.

Status of the Employed

The number of employed persons decreased by 388 thousand people in July compared to the previous month, dropping to 32 million 362 thousand people. The employment rate was recorded as 48.3% with a 0.5 percentage point decrease.

This rate materialized at 65.5% for men and 31.4% for women.

Labor Force Participation Rate

The labor force decreased by 238 thousand people in July compared to the previous month, falling to 35 million 222 thousand people. The labor force participation rate also dropped by 0.4 percentage points to 52.5%.

Unemployment in the Youth Population

In the youth population covering the 15-24 age group, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate increased by 1.5 percentage points to reach 14.5%. The unemployment rate among young men was 11.3%, while for young women this rate was determined to be 20.3%.

Working Hours and Idle Labor

The seasonally and calendar adjusted weekly average actual working hours of employed persons who were at work during the reference period decreased by 0.4 hours to 42.0 hours.

The idle labor force rate, consisting of time-related underemployment, potential labor force, and the unemployed, rose by 1.8 percentage points to the level of 30.6%.
